(March 13, 2026) The Mid-Atlantic Premier League (MAPL) is proud to announce and introduce the launch of the Mid-Atlantic Premier Foundational League. In partnership with US Club Soccer, this league is set to kick off during the 2026/27 season.

Accepting U8-U12 boys and girls teams, this league is designed to provide players with a development-first alternative to traditional youth league models. The Mid-Atlantic Foundational League is intended to reduce unnecessary travel, support player development and reinforce the proven pathway of MAPL and US Club Soccer programming.

U8-U12 teams will participate in structured league play within two divisions, Black and Gold in geographically friendly regions. This will introduce youth athletes to competitive standards while maintaining a development-centered focus. All teams will have an opportunity to compete at our inaugural MAPL Foundational Fest in June of 2027. At Foundational Fest, we will place teams in competitive and like-minded groupings for a chance to have a meaningful end of season competition before summer break where they play for the right to be named champions!

The Foundational League serves as the entry point to MAPL and NewComp’s competitive pathways. The league is not intended to increase pressure at young ages. Instead, a stable, growth-centered environment where athletes are able to improve their skills and feel supported.

For more information, please contact league directors Brian Thomsen and Ashley Nesbit through email: brian@midatlanticpl.com and ashley@midatlanticpl.com. Applications for the league will be opening soon.
